Mind games - illusion continuums trickery
We think that we 'see' movement, but we don't our eyes see a series of frozen images at about one each 1/8 second, passing these to our brains which fills in the gaps between the stills and tricks us into thinking we are actually seeing things move
Thoughts are the same, they appear out of previous thoughts or perceived events and then, depending on whether we choose to engage with the thought (or not), they fade away and/or turn into something else Again, there is no continuum, just a series of somewhat unrelated events that we create a story out of
The finest of particles so far found in quantum physics, also 'jump' about, appearing to be 'here' and 'there' both at the same moment - and may be equally well described as 'energy'
Perhaps, if we accept uncertainty as normal and come to view life as a stream of events - experiences - without trying to apply constraints of time (when) or what (mind games) ..
the magpie is singing trees are in blossom sky is blue flies are buzzing ..
might also be magpie in blossom sky singing ..

Cycles ..
The introduction of machinery and mechanization had totally destroyed any humanism implicit in English traditions of social order, and this destruction was reflected in a factory system which debased both product and producer .. ' .. we manufacture everything except men; we blanch cotton, strengthen steel and refine sugar and shape pottery; but to brighten, to strengthen, to refine or to form a single living spirit never enters into our estimate of advantages ' Written by J.Ruskin, 1853, quoted by W.Morris, 1892 in the UK ..

4 reliances
"Rely on the teaching, not on the person; Rely on the meaning, not on the words; Rely on the definitive meaning, not on the provisional (interpreted); Rely on your wisdom mind, not on your ordinary mind."
Buddhist teaching

Balance
Indigenous societies always strove for 'balance' in community life; balance through moiety, gender, clan, land, spirit - and developed intricate social systems to achieve it
The yin and the yang Spiritual philosophy too, most often seeks the 'middle way' - the balance - between head and heart, between sensual self indulgence and self mortification
And an (Australian) politician ? 'World governments admire our balance ... sheets' !

Freedom
May we all realize freedom freedom from ignorance and avarice from dogma and superstition from fear - of death - and life and imposed guilt. freedom from shouting, public fibbing and officials from flag waving and the pursuit of mediocrity free to accept responsibility freedom for all in and of the earth for all creatures, forests and places in which to wonder freedom to understand, gain wisdom, compassion and love
freedom from 'Freedom'

Making sense
my eyes see my ears hear my nose smells my tongue tastes my skin feels my mind has thoughts
Our sense organs do not interpret or catergorize - we only do that as part of conditioning, of being taught and of learning
What and how we see/sense is determined by what and how we are able to see/sense; 'able' being the crux of it Perhaps it is a (human) 'quality' - a state of mind influenced and shaped by countless causes and effects Reactions to (some) stimulii are essential (that something that is 'hot' will 'burn' - ie has consequences); trying to add 'morals' and 'political' dimensions leads us into all kinds of trouble ..
Our minds? They just think - perceive thoughts that pass through, appear and dissolve, constantly moving and changing
There is no reason nor necessity for us to attach anything to them - emotions, labels, categories of good or bad, interpretations and opinions
And: Our eyes see, our ears hear .. they respond to particular parts of the same (very) broad spectrum
If something exists 'outside' the perceptible parts it doesn't mean that they do not 'exist', it just means that we do not perceive them - or at best, do not comprehend them in our usual (habitual) ways
If we are able to comprehend that such named subjects as 'magnetics', 'radiation', 'love', feeling 'apprehensive' .. do 'exist' (even if not measurable in rationalist terms), then the possibility does exist for greater comprehension of those (other) parts of our world as being just as existent as the parts we do comprehend

Ownership
I belong to this place My eyes see these forms, colours, sky, earth, and have since I was born My ears hear the sounds of air, water, people, nature My skin feels the wind, rain, warmth, cool My nose smells all these things and retains them as memory My thoughts are shaped by these elements, by the seasons and their cycles My body is made from all this My language is formed by its sounds and its stories; the stories are mine and are me I do not, nor need to, 'own' this place; this place, I belong to

Subject and object
We are taught to divide everything this way; to view the world this way; our language is predicated on this 'view' This is 'me', 'my', I - the subject; everything else is external to 'me', is an object separated from me The cosmos - stars, sky, thoughts, air, nature, people, memories - is 'external, 'not me' Alternatively The 'cosmos' is the centre, is 'all', is everything and is inclusive of everything; we are 'just' a small part of this whole all we 'do' and 'are' is just a part of this What we call 'physical', sensory, earth, air, water .. is always in transition, changing forms in a giant cosmic sea and it is all fine

Fear and economystics
with no dance, song or spirit no wisdom, love nor interest no heart, earth nor compassion heads running amok full of fear of death, of life inventing, justifying, denying, blaming, ignoring, pretending, hiding one life in which to grab at everything no consequences, no care, no knowing

Views .. (Darwin, 2003/5) from here .. in a tropical rain forest garden, in early morning dappled light .. birds chatting whilst nesting .. peacocks .. frogs emerging as humidity rises sees 'fear', and its unending promotion through contemporary media 'fear' as fear of 'others', fear of 'losing' any 'privilege' or 'right' fear of any loss of our 'right' to be 'right' sees us losing our abilities to respond to where we are in the world and relate to each other as 'us' - rather than a 'they' being 'other than us' fear that manifests in presuming that those who yell loudest (that that is 'bad', is 'evil' that 'this' is 'good') are 'right' fear of knowing we don't know
the view from here .. sees greed having been normalised - into endless self absorption, of defining ones existence in terms of accrued possessions sees the constant media parading of famous, celebrity, money rich, the greedy as worthy of note and envy sees the constant creation of envy as a market tool sees isolated word mongers, eyes averted from life, processing words devoid of human experience; all head, no heart
the view from here .. sees the creeping rapacious nature of a contemporary life that cannot leave any remote corner untouched; any wilderness unmanaged contemporary life that has to make itself seen - and heard - constantly its dread of quiet its existence dependent on the quantification of everything as being 'useful' - but only if exploitable of seeing, from a distance, the degree to which we have opted out of life, opted out of retaining any real decision making capabilities - about aspects of life that directly affect and concern us. of accepting that being dominated by entrenched interest groups is 'normal' of seeing the entrenched lack-of-people-interest and compassion in the sorry spectacle of 'government' of accepting that we (in Australia) dully import tv, media, advertising and unending promotions from other countries businesses as somehow supplanting any stories we might have
the view from here .. sees a local world (still) dominated by nature; attempts to act otherwise still capable of being thwarted - by simply being blown away It includes an age old culture, still operating in part, with a strength and an apparent knowledge of self and earth community that is wonder-full a view of ancient ley lines surfacing more than occasionally, bringing extraordinary oases of life, contemplation and celebration into visible
the view from here .. manages, through distance and a natural environment (with few participants) to allow some space in which to recover (some of) one's senses the impositions are utterly unrelenting; but there is nothing else we can, ultimately, be
